~AJ
As most of you know, the Patnode family has been on an amazing journey. They have been up against many unknown and impossible odds, yet they continue to make great progress.
AJ is unable to walk, move, run, play, swing, turn on the TV, cry for Mom or Dad, or even get into a snuggly position on laps. This means for AJ, eight years old, that someone must change his toys, turn pages in a book, hold up the paper for drawing, put him in his wheelchair, position him frequently, and be creative for him. The family must KNOW AJ to be able to meet his needs and wants. At best these are still guesses. This is why Mike and Lori have put their careers on hold. This is why the continued fundraising is so pertinent to making impossible dreams come true. The impossible dream of moving to a larger home to enhance AJ's life has come true. The impossible dream to enrich AJ's life by vehicle transportation has come true. AJ is a very different young boy than he was a few years ago. The benefits of the house and being mobile are astonishing. He's able to thrive. They strive to accomplish these goals through persistence, and the support of family, community, and professionals whose tireless efforts are much appreciated. In the future this family has yet more impossible dreams to attain. The goal, is with the aide of fundraising, to reduce the home mortgage and to be able to make repairs & normal upkeep on the house and van as well as meet regular monthly family needs. Mike and Lori have freely and lovingly given up their careers to maintain AJ's life and many care issues in their home. Mike and AJ are entitled to disability payments monthly. Mike has had 5 open heart surgeries over the years which include 2 surgeries to correct his birth defect of Transposition of the Great Vessels of the Heart and 3 more open heart surgeries to implant his pacemakers. Their disability income is not enough to cover all of the monthly expenses. That is why we are trying to pay off the house mortgage. By paying off the house mortgage it will guarantee a home to live in and free up the monthly budget for the normal expenses and unexpected expenses of a thriving young family. Having a roof over AJ's head and electricity to run his equipment twenty-four hours a day, every day, are part of AJ's needs. Mike and Lori have said, "We live on very little and are blessed in spite of it." If you can help with a contribution of your time, talent or a donation to the AJ Patnode fund, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any past support and continuing prayers.
Sincerely, AJ's Fundraising Committee
